From June 19th to 21st, 2024, we will organize a half-week-long Participatory Festival for a Car-Free Campus. It takes place as part of TU Dresden’s Sustainability Week. For this, we will close off the street section in front of the Alte Mensa. We want to invite all students, staff, and residents to actively participate in shaping the campus. We’ve planned an exciting program for this:

What to Expect

For 3 days, various university groups, research projects, and city organizations will present themselves. Different workshops and lectures will invite you to think about a campus without parked cars. What could all that space be used for? What would you like to do with this newly available space?

Sketch Competition for Space Design

Masterplan Campusgestaltung

In the Masterplan Campusgestaltung, a redesign of Mommsenstraße is planned. It is supposed to be traffic-calmed, maybe even turned into a beautiful plaza? To gather as many ideas and inputs from the student side as possible right from the start, we are launching a sketch competition!

You can create the sketches on paper or digitally. We have taken photos of the area of Mommsenstraße that is to be redesigned. You can use these photos to draw your plans. Link to Data Share

Submit your ideas by June 14th to autofreier-campus@tuuwi.de as a PDF OR drop them off at the tuuwi office or the StuRa mailroom if you create them on paper. Please indicate whether your name, an abbreviation, or a pseudonym should be displayed and what name you would give to this place.

Please consider the following aspects in your design:

  • Accessibility
  • Climate adaptation
  • High quality of stay
  • Study area for students during the day and a lively place for everyone (e.g., residents) in the evening

We will print your ideas and display them at the participatory festival in the cultural zone. Visitors will evaluate the exhibited sketches. We will also enable Instagram voting.

The winner will be announced on Friday (June 21st) and will win an Aperol Starter Kit or a non-alcoholic Glitter Spritz Kit!
